What are the Necessary Academic Advisor Credentials for College?

A little over a week ago one of our authors wrote a wonderful article about college freshmen and gave some quality advice to the same in regards to dealing with and getting the most out of their first year of “school out of high school.” In this article, one of her pieces of advice was, “Don’t take your advisor’s word for it!” I’ve thought of this a great deal, not since she wrote the article, but ever since I’ve become a student at ASU and had to go through countless academic advising sessions with these so called “advisors.” In my mind, the only advisement I’ve generated from these meetings is my own advisment not to be advised by these people…Read More

Freshmen Five: What your advisor didn’t tell you.

There’s a lot to keep track of as a freshmen at ASU. Coming straight out of high school and into a whole new world of dorm life, registering for classes, using your own free will to choose whether or not to even go to class, dealing with late nights and long lectures, and, of course, going crazy over college sports, it sometimes can be just a little overwhelming. Learning Calculus - A method with reason

It’s done! It’s over, but yet the real challenge begins. As a recent graduate from a class in 2008 it’s time to prepare for the real world. Knowing that I will be attending a fall semester at ASU studying Material Science has began to renew my excitement in going back to school and learning, or so it seemed. As registration began I Found out that I had to take a Calculus placement test and score 60% or higher to pass.
