“The Tillman Story” Hits Theatres

September 3rd, 2010 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I just got this update from the “Sun Devil Club.” I’m interested to see how they portray the story in the film. I’ve heard good things about it so far. The football team had to watch it a couple of weeks ago and many of the players said it changed their lives. Anyway, just thought I’d repost this for anyone who doesn’t get the email updates.

This Saturday, your Sun Devil Football team kicks off the 2010 season against Portland State. Defending Arizona State’s proud tradition is at the forefront of each and every player’s mind, but this year their journey through the Tillman Tunnel holds an even deeper meaning. After having the opportunity earlier this month to see the documentary “The Tillman Story”, each member of the team has a greater understanding of who Pat was and all that he represented with no desire for recognition or fanfare.

“The Tillman Story”, primarily focused on Pat’s death and his families quest for the truth, opens this weekend. Seeing the movie gave the 2010 Sun Devils, many of whom were toddlers when Pat wore the Maroon and Gold, an opportunity to understand his intellect and athleticism.  This understanding gives them a greater sense of pride in Sun Devil Tradition as they don their PT-42 clad jerseys and see his name on the press box. Click here for Doug Haller’s blog following the team screening featuring reactions from the players.
